So at my house, there are currently 2 8 port switches, a modem, and a router. here's how it is set up. one switch (much older, came with house) is wired and goes to 7 upstairs wall jacks. The other (just bought it, d-link DGS-1008G) goes to 6 downstairs wall jacks. Now, i currently have them set up like this: It starts with the modem (of course).
